A team by the name Gull1Hack has claimed in a couple of videos, that they were able to do an untethered jailbreak and also unlock of iPhone 3GS bootrom, including new models. They even claimed that they found the exploit in the 3GS boot system, on all iPhones and iPod Touches. Their method supposedly took advantage of buffer memory over run on iPhone, which leads the OS to enter into safe mode. (more…)

There has been some wrong speculation going around the iPhone jailbreaking community, all due to a tweet from iPhone hacker Geohot. Rumors have spread rapidly like fire, after many bloggers have mistakenly identified Geohot’s tweet about his robot to be that regarding an unlock for iPhone 3.1.3. It’s sad to see how many people were easily taken into such rumors, given the fact that Geohot has explicitly asked users to stay away from upgrading to iPhone 3.1.3, and also expressed his opinion on how difficult it is to  jailbreak and unlock iPhone 3.1.3. Apple in collaboration with AT&T has released two new ads to promote iPhone 3GS. The first one ‘First Steps’ shows how easily a mother shares her son’s first steps video with friends and family. The second one has a person who is waiting on a customer support line, doing all his work while the call is on hold.
