Now that iOS 4 GM is available, the iPhone Dev team has updated Redsn0w 0.9.5 Beta to support the new iPhone OS. Currently this new Beta works only for Mac OS X, and for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G. iTunes 9.2 is required to activate your iPhone, which again is currently available only for Mac OSX. Only developers with UDID can activate their iPhone using iTunes 9.2.

The steps to jailbreak iOS 4 on iPhone 3G are similar to the ones given for the earlier redsn0w 0.9.5 Beta. The current version redsn0w 0.9.5b1 added support for iPod Touch 2G, which was missing earlier, and also allows you to enable multitasking and homescreen wallpapers during the installation.

Note: iPhone unlockers should stay away from redsn0w 0.9.5 beta. The jailbreak process involves an update to iOS 4.0, which in turn updates your baseband thus resulting in loss of unlock.
