Users of iPhone 3GS are familiar with the voice control feature of their iDevice. Now you can avail this feature on your iPad too, with a small tweak. Of course you will have to first jailbreak iPad 3.2 using Spirit, if you have not yet done so. This will give you access to file system on your iPad, thus allowing you to modify the system settings and turn on voice control feature, which exists but remains hidden on your iPad.

Here are the steps to enable voice control on iPad:

1. Install OpenSSH on iPad. This lets you connect your iPad wirelessly via WiFi to your Mac or Windows Computer.

2. Note down the IP address of your iPad by going to Settings –> WiFi –> <Your Network Operator Name>.

3. Log in to your iPad using the following details:

Server: iPad IP address

Username: root

Password: alpine (if you are logging in for the first time and have not yet changed)

Protocol: SFTP (Cyberduck) or SCP (WinSCP).

4. Now you will be able to navigate the iPad file system; navigate to /system/library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/ directory and select the K48AP.plist file for editing.

5. Find the following lines of code in this file:

<key>capabilities</key>

<dict>

6. Add the following lines of code just below the above lines:

<key>voice-control</key>

<true/>

7. Save the K48AP.plist file for the changes to take effect and restart your iPad after disconnecting it from your Computer.

That’s it. You can now use voice control on your iPad. Hold down the HOME button and wait till you see the Voice Control screen.
