How To Save SHSH Blobs (ECID SHSH) Of iPhone 3.1.3, iPad 3.2 Using AutoSHSH
Now that Spirit untethered jailbreak is just around the corner, you need to first save your SHSH blobs. For the unaware, SHSH blob or ECID SHSH is a signature which is every time verified against Apple’s servers whenever you want to restore your iPhone or iPad’s firmware.
What happens if you don’t make a backup of SHSH blobs for your device? Well, you essentially end up losing your jailbreak and also will not be able to downgrade to older firmware, should you accidentally upgrade your device to a new firmware. You can either save your ECID SHSH locally on your PC, or to Saurik’s servers through Cydia. We recommend you do both.
Here are the steps to take a backup of SHSH blobs on your iPhone/iPod Touch 3.1.3 or iPad 3.2 using AutoSHSH, a small program from the iH8sn0w team, who earlier gave sn0wbreeze to jailbreak iPhone/iPod Touch, and the f0recast tool that lets you check if your device is unlockable or untethered:
1. Download AutoSHSH (available for Windows; download link below).
2. Connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to your Computer enter recovery mode (turn off the device, and while holding down ‘Home’ button, connect the USB cable. Let go when you see ‘Connect to iTunes’ message on your iDevice).
3. Launch AutoSHSH. This program requires Java installed on your PC.
4. Click on ‘Grab my SHSH Blogs Automatically’ button. AutoSHSH will now open the Save dialog. Choose a safe location, and save the signature file on your hard disk or on a pen drive. AutoSHSH will also upload the SHSH blobs to Sarurik’s server.

You are done. You don’t need to worry, in case Apple releases a patch fixing the Spirit userland exploit, and you somehow accidentally upgrade to that firmware.
