Untethered Jailbreak (Userland) For iPhone 3.1.3 Firmware Video

It was only recently that Geohot, our favorite iPhone hacker, has released a demo video of untethered jailbreak for iPhone, and the iPhone was successfully hacked by two hackers at the Pwn2Own contest winning them $15,000 in cash. Now Comex, another iPhone hacker has released a video in which he successfully managed to jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 firmware visa Userland exploit.

For the unaware, Userland means a browser based jailbreak. You just have to point your iPhone to an online link, in order to jailbreak it. This is a pretty awful flaw, from iPhone’s security point of view. So expect Apple to take immediate action, and fix the issue in an upcoming iPhone firmware release (maybe 3.2?).

Comex has not yet given an ETA for the release of this untethered iPhone 3.1.3 jailbreak. Meanwhile check out the video, which has been confirmed as real by musclenerd, an iPhone Dev Team member on Twitter.
