Stop iPhone From Auto Rotating Using iNoRotate [Jailbreak App]
Auto rotation is one of those unique features of iPhone, and also one of the most popular. Your iPhone has a built-in accelerometer, which senses the device orientation using gravity and automatically switches between the landscape and the portrait modes. Many times this feature is of great use, but there are times, especially when you lay down in your bed and your iPhone turns sideways, you really wished you didn’t have the auto rotation.
iNoRotate, a free Cydia tweak available from the BigBoss repository, lets you turn off auto rotation. You can either turn off this feature completely, or disable the feature for applications belonging to a specific category, such as SMS, Mail, Safari, Notes, Contacts. However, a drawback of iNoRotations is that there is no simple way to toggle on/off for selective applications. You have to go all the way to app’s settings screen to make any changes.
An alternative to iNoRotate is the Rotation toggle plugin for SBSettings. For the unaware, SBSettings is a Cydia app that adds various toggles such as Data (3G/EDGE/GPRS), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc to youriPhone Homescreen. So you can enable or disable any of these features with a single tap and save your iPhone battery. There is also a companion app SBSchedule, for automating SBSettings toggles, based on given schedules.
