Those of you who have hacktivated your iPhone 3.1.3 on an unauthorized carrier, you might find Push Notifications not working properly. ‘PushFix’, which uses a single shared certificate for all it’s users was the only solution available for this problem earlier. Push Doctor, a newly released Cydia fix for push notifications uses unique and genuine activation certificates.

Unlike PushFix, Push Doctor does not drain your iPhone’s battery, cause unnecessary data usage and is available completely free of cost. After you have jailbroken(sn0wbreeze/pwnagetool/redsn0w) and unlocked (ultrasn0w/blacksn0w) your iPhone 3.1.3, go ahead and follow these steps to fix Push Notifications.

1. Launch Cydia and add the source repo: http://www.cmdshft.ipwn.me/apt/

2. Search for ‘Push Doctor’ in Cydia and install it.

3. Reboot your iPhone and get back Push Notificatons for apps such as ESPN’s official app, Facebook, Orbit, Blipr, Meebo and so on.

Note: Due to heavy demand, Push Doctor’s server might run out of unique certificates every once in a while. Keep trying till you get it working.
