C-SPAN Radio iPhone App Updated To Stream Audio In The Background
C-SPAN is a popular radio service that broadcasts 3 stations of free public affairs news, such as Congressional hearings, White House events, national and international speeches, and so on. The iPhone app for C-SPAN includes these free broadcasts of C-SPAN Radio, C-SPAN, and C-SPAN 2 stations, and also audio podcasts of some of their regularly scheduled programs.
An update to C-SPAN iPhone app now lets you use other apps while listening to the radio broadcast. It does this by using Mobile Safari to play the station’s stream, so you can go ahead and use other apps while listening to your favorite programs.
Once you tap one of the ‘Listen’ buttons on this app, you will be asked if you like to enable the Background streaming feature. Tap ‘Yes’ and you can then close the app and return to your mails or IM.
C-SPAN is a free app available in the ‘News’ category of the App Store.
