Camera Dialer iPhone App Lets You Dial Numbers By Shooting Pictures
You are just driving by in your car and saw an attractive sale ad at the corner of the street. By the time you pull out your iPhone and start dialing the number, the banner is almost out of your sight. Like they say, there is an app for everything on the iPhone. Camera Dialer, a recently released iPhone app, lets you make calls without dialing any numbers. The app uses your iPhone’s camera to scan digits from the images, and converts them into numbers. You can use this app with yellow pages, business cards, ad banners on streets, and so on. When you want to dial a number you just found in a business directory, launch the app. It will activate your iPhone camera, displaying a green rectangular box. Position your iPhone so that the number fits correctly in this box.
According to the manufacturer, the app recognizes the number automatically, and places the call. You can however turn off automatic dialing, so that you get a confirmation before the call is placed. Camera Dialer is available for $0.99 in the App store currently.
Other interesting apps which get more out of your camera include LEGO Portraits, a free app which creates LEGO style images from pictures taken with your iPhone camera, Gorillacam, yet another free camera app with a rich set of features, REALSKI, an augmented reality trail map app that uses your iPhone camera to present you with interesting details.
