Unlock For iPhone 3.1.3 Baseband 05.12.01 Not Yet Available

There has been some wrong speculation going around the iPhone jailbreaking community, all due to a tweet from iPhone hacker Geohot. Rumors have spread rapidly like fire, after many bloggers have mistakenly identified Geohot’s tweet about his robot to be that regarding an unlock for iPhone 3.1.3. It’s sad to see how many people were easily taken into such rumors, given the fact that Geohot has explicitly asked users to stay away from upgrading to iPhone 3.1.3, and also expressed his opinion on how difficult it is to  jailbreak and unlock iPhone 3.1.3.

As of now there is no unlock for iPhone 3.1.3 baseband 05.12.01. Those of you who have accidentally or unwittingly upgraded to iPhone firmware 3.1.3 will have to wait, till some one comes with the unlock. The iPhone Dev team has confirmed that a working exploit has been submitted to them by an iPhone hacker by the name Sherif Hashim. However they have not given any timeline for the release.
