Convert And Stream Videos From PC To iPhone, iPod Touch Using Air Video Free

As your video collection grows, it becomes more and more painful to keep moving the video files between your PC and your iPhone or iPod Touch. Not only the time it takes to keep your library synchronized is way too long, but also space is a big constraint on your portable device. A free iPhone app, Air Video can stream videos from your Computer to your iPhone, ridding you of all the copying and moving actions.

What is really interesting in this app is that it has an in-built live conversion (needs a powerful PC) that can convert videos of almost any format (mp4, m4v, mov, avi, wmv, asf, mpg, mpeg, mkv, 3gp, dmf, divx, flv) to one that is suitable to play on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Normally if you were to play these files, you will have to convert them manually using a video converter, which would take at least a couple of hours.

Air Video works by having a companion server application running on your PC. The Air Video Server, available free of cost for Windows and Mac OS X Leopard, does the streaming o your local network such as your home Wi-Fi network and the offline as well as on-the-fly conversion of video. You can even set up this server program to stream videos over the Internet (3G also) to your iPhone, if you are connected to a UPnp or NAT_PMP supported router.

Air Video is really awesome, it does it’s job quite well. However the free version has a limitation, it restricts the number of videos that you can pick from the folders. Still this should not stop you from trying out the app!
