iPhone 3.1.3 Baseband 05.12.01 Or Latest iPhone And iPod Touch Devices Cannot Be Jailbroken – Geohot

George Hotz a.k.a Geohotz has given some bad news to iPhone users who are looking to jailbreak their 31.3 firmware on the latest iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch modes. This is what he says in a tweet given yesterday:

There is no solution for 3.1.3 on newer devices or 05.12.01 There is no untethered jailbreak. I don’t know if/when these things will exist.

For the unaware, Geohot is a famous iPhone hacker who earlier gave a tool called blackra1n which can jailbreak iPhone 3G/3GS with firmware 3.1.2. In his latest tweet given today, he even feels sorry for those who are trying to upgrade their firmware to 3.1.3 and later jailbreak it!

I hear rumors going around that the 3.1.3 jailbreak is hard. It isn’t. But the only people it helps are those dumb enough to upgrade. Sorry.

Recently redsn0w 0.9.4, released by iPhone Dev team, could jailbreak iPhone 2G and iPod Touch 1G and 2G (non MC models). However redsn0w 0.9.4 cannot preserve the unlock, so iPhone 3G and 3GS users were recommended to stay away.
